Not only did the GOP suffer a crushing electoral defeat on Tuesday night, as well as some pretty substantial losses in the House and Senate–the cannibals are now eating their own. According to AP, Politico, The Washington Post, NY Times, CNN, and a host of media outlets senior McCain aides are privately savaging the Alaska Governor and posing as “anonymous sources” to any journalist who will listen.
This is just another sad display of how messed up the GOP is and how badly it needs to clean House from top to bottom of the same old sexist, race baiting garbage that cost the Republican Party another national election and serious Congressional losses.
Weeks before McCain officially lost the Presidency to Barack Obama, the leaks started. Leaks that Gov, Palin was a “Diva”, or that she was a “whack job”–a “prima Dona” who in one person’s words is a “Wasilla (Alaska) Hillbilly who loves Neiman Marcus from Coast to Coast”. WOW!
Now aides are saying that the Gov. came to the door with a “towel” wrapped around her, that she does not know where the Continent of Africa is or that is was a continent. This is plain and simple trashing of this woman and it is a disgrace!
I have never seen such nastiness in all of my years of politics–by that I mean this:
Governor Palin did NOT have to accept John McCain’s invitation to run with him for the Presidency. She is America’s most popular Governor, she is only 44 years of age with a bright future ahead of her. She is a mother of 5 kids, one who is serving his country in IRAQ, and she accepted McCain’s offer because she believed in him as a “Maverick” and because she herself is known as a “Maverick”. She helped his ticket gain 10 PTS post convention with the base, and in reality she probably saved him from an even more crushing defeat at the polls on Tuesday.
The tragedy of all of this is that the media has been a willing accomplice in the trashing of Gov. Sarah Palin instead of outing the so-called sources and asking them to explain how they conducted themselves and why it is that Senator McCain’s campaign was such a colossal failure. That is the real story worth investigating here!
I also think it is irresponsible for Newsweek or any other news agency to report such nasty and seedy allegations against a sitting Governor. This is sexism and it is offensive. They are making her out to be an idiot who is a dumb Barbie doll, who is ignorant and shallow when in reality men like Rick Davis and Schmidt who ran McCain’s campaign are the real shallow, mean, nasty, out of touch, clueless GOP operatives that we all ought to be concerned about.
My advice to Gov. Palin is to go home to Alaska, enjoy your family, love on your husband and baby son, return to your duties as the Governor of your state, surround yourself with good staff aides and some media strategists who can help you get a good book deal, and finally figure out a way to get Senator Ted Stevens Senate seat for yourself win he goes to jail next year.
Ignore the Washington, D.C. rabid dogs who don’t know when enough is enough. This is what they do. President Obama will find this out within 100 days of being the new leader of the Free World. Trust me, it won’t be long before he trashed, analyzed, investigated, leaked on by trusted aides and friends, etc. It is sad, but true. Potomac fever does something to people, to once normal people, and makes them turn into power crazed fools.
Pray for them and ignore them Governor Palin. This is one American, one black female American who appreciates your service, appreciates your willingness as Teddy Roosevelt said to crawl into the “arena” and take the hits. It could not have been easy for you to disrupt your family and your own life to campaign with John McCain for the past two months.
I apologize to you as a fellow republican that our party is now trashing you–and making you out to be the bad guy, when in reality the failure is their own.
